Trying HDR on a single image...

Although not a true HDR, I attempted the technique using a single
image of my daughter swimming.

The original RAW image presented some challenges in itself; taken
indoors under artificial lighting and a higher than desired ISO of
1000.

Through Lightroom I made three identical images altering the exposure
by +1 and -1. Then merged them together using the Photomatix plugin. I
did a little hue and saturation adjustments to bring the water to a
clear blue. Not sure I did it right; but I think the result is an
improvement over the original.

Please provide comments.

Great pictures. If the exposure is good and you just want to bring out details a cool way to add the tonning is to duplicate the image, go to image- adjustments-HDR toning, add the details and desatuate then drag that toned image back onto the original and use a blend mode of soft light.

Ed, thanks so much for the advice. I will certainly retry this image this way to see what kind of results I can get. (always looking for tips)
